Betsson, a Swedish based iGaming operator, is set to enter the US online sports betting market through its 10-year partnership with Dostal Alley Casino, a Colorado-based hotel, brewery and casino. According to their agreement, Dostal Alley Casino will be the one to provide access to the players via a Business-to-Consumer (B2C) online sports betting model developed for use in the state of Colorado. As the company’s first venture in the US market, it is keen on launching its proprietary sportsbook in 2021.
The company’s entrance in the US market is built on its ambition to create the best user experience available in the market by tailoring its services according to the specific needs of its diversified customers. This move will allow them to not only showcase the strength of their proprietary sportsbook in the US market but also allow them to branch out towards Business-to-Business (B2B) ventures in the future.
Betsson is confident in this venture not only because of their expertise but also, US regulatory bodies have paved the way for online sports betting opportunities. The state of Colorado has legalised the online sports betting market on 1st May of this year. It is also the date that allowed gaming operators to launch their mobile phone betting apps. The state will only award 33 licenses for land-based and online sportsbooks and the tax rate is 10% of the gross online gaming revenue. Its rules state that registering and betting can only be done while within the state’s borders.
This move for Betsson is a good move because the online sports betting market in Colorado shows promise as it is estimated to reach a $200 million market saturation point. Also, it is a wealthy state, one of the top US states in terms of GDP. It has a population of nearly 6 million people and counting and is both a tech and sports hub with its own teams in major American sporting leagues.
The Chief financial officer of Dostal Alley Casino, CinDee Spellman has expressed that their company is thrilled to welcome Betsson to the US iGaming scene. She mentioned that because of Betsson’s long-standing expertise in online gaming, they are confident that this partnership will bring the best experience to Colorado’s players.
Pontus Lindwall, chief executive officer and president of Betsson AB said that he was excited to have Betsson expand its reach globally by entering a new continent through a fast-growing online market and that he is looking forward to exploring the company’s proprietary sportsbook potential. He also said that their partnership with Dostal Alley Casino, a long-running business with over 60 years of experience in the state of Colorado, will play an important role in their journey in penetrating the US market. He further mentioned that the US has a strong culture of gambling and is now experiencing the rise of online gaming at an unprecedented rate as players are transitioning from retail outlets to personal computers and mobile devices.
