Resorts World Catskills ready for guests

Following Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s announcement green lighting casino reopenings in New York, Resorts World Catskills has announced that they are ready to welcome back customers by 10 am this coming Wednesday, September 9.
In this initial reopening, 100,000 square feet of casino games will be available to guests. These include over 100 live Las-Vegas style table games and slot machines, which are all equipped with anti-COVID measures such as plexiglass dividers. On top of that, customers are also able to enjoy four of the resort’s restaurants and bars. In a bid to create more value for its customers and as well as supporting local businesses, the resort will be unveiling new marketing initiatives over the comings weeks.
Bob DeSalvio, president of Genting Americas East has commented on this news saying that the resort’s team has been waiting to reopen its doors to customers and that during this waiting time, the resort has already implemented a plan to seamlessly integrate the resort’s renowned hotel and casino experience with the more stringent health protocols that are needed to operate safely. Furthermore, DeSalvio added that the resort is excited to play its part in helping New York’s economy move forward.
Speaking about safety, the resort is to implement its own health and safety measures on top of the state’s strict mandated guidelines to ensure a safe reopening and operations moving forward. The resort calls this initiative as its 21 Point Safety plan which includes measures such as temperature checks upon arrival, mandatory face masks, plexiglass dividers on all table games and select slot machines, over 200 sanitising stations, a clean team for regular deployment, and a six feet social distancing guideline for customers.
The president of Resorts World Catskills and Resorts World Casino New York City, Scott Molina, has also commented on this reopening announcement saying that though the casino floor may look different, all of the changes are part of the resort’s 21 point plan to ensure customer health and safety. He further added that regulating the casino floor’s capacity will allow for easier implementation of social distancing guidelines and sanitation protocols. Also, employees will receive training on safety and sanitation protocols to further ensure guest and employee safety. He also stressed that the resort will be constantly evaluating and gauging the pandemic situation to decide when it can fully offer its whole range of amenities to its customers.
New York State Assemblywoman, Aileen Gunther, also commented on this reopening announcement and expressed her gratitude towards the administration for working with her in paving the way for the reopening of the casino. She also added that Resorts World Catskills employs more than one thousand people in Sullivan County and is a tremendous driver of economic development. She also added that Resorts World has been preparing for this day and is fully capable of operating safely. Lastly, she emphasized that employees deserve a safe environment in which to return to work and that she’ll continue working with all stakeholders to ensure that health and safety is a priority.
